Abstract

Guru merupakan faktor penentu kesuksesan setiap usaha pendidikan. Karena guru merupakan sentral dan dalam proses pembelajaran dan sekaligus membentuk kualitas anak didik. Karena itu upaya-upaya meningkatkan kualitas guru penting untuk selalu dilaksanakan secara formal maupun non formal baik oleh pemerintah maupun oleh guru atas kesadaran sendiri agar kompetensi seorang guru baik kompetensi kepribadian maupun kompetensi professional etep terjaga bahkan meningkat dari waktu ke waktu. Dengan demikian maka mutu pendidikan Islam dapat diharapkan akan meningkat, sebaliknya tanpa kualitas dan kompetensi guru yang baik dan berkualita maka sulit untuk mencapai mutu pendidikan yang bermutu, terkarena itu guru yang berkompetensi mutlak diperlukan dan dalam tulisan ini akan dibahas tentang peningkatan kompetensi guru dan kaitannya dengan mutu pendidikan Islam
