Abstract

This study focuses on analyzing the process of internalizing Islamic educational values as the foundation for shaping students' behavior at a private junior high school in Luwuk City, while also examining the gap between the theoretical concepts taught and their implementation in real-life situations. The background of this study is the phenomenon that fundamental values such as honesty, discipline, and responsibility have been systematically delivered through classroom instruction, yet their application in students' daily behavior has not been fully realized. To examine this phenomenon, the study employed a qualitative approach using a descriptive method. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research participants consisted of Islamic Religious Education teachers and students at the selected private junior high school. The findings indicate that the internalization of Islamic educational values has been carried out through three main approaches, namely classroom instruction, teachers' role modeling, and the continuous implementation of religious activities. However, the implementation of these values in students' behavior has not yet been consistently optimal. A gap remains between students' understanding of Islamic values and their application in everyday life. This condition is influenced by several factors, including inadequate supervision, strong peer influence, and students' low level of self-awareness. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the process of internalizing Islamic educational values in shaping students' positive behavior has not been implemented optimally. Therefore, more integrated and sustainable efforts are required. These efforts include strengthening teachers' role modeling, enhancing students' internal awareness, consistently cultivating positive behavior, and fostering active collaboration among schools, parents, and the community to support students' character development.
